We are trying to lose weight what are some examples of a balanced diet and what is a good exercise regime to lose weight and get healthy
Just doing about 20-30 mins cardio a day and watching what you eat,try to eat complex carbs(Complex carbohydrates are found in fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds and grains. Some examples of foods high in starchy complex carbohydrates include bread(brown or granary), cereal, rice, pasta, potatoes, dry beans, carrots and corn. Green vegetables like green beans, broccoli and spinach contain less starch and more fiber. All grains include starchy carbohydrates. However, whole grains — such as whole wheat pasta — are better for you because they also have more fiber.) and lean proteins(Egg whites, lean turkey or chicken breast, canned tuna, and skim milk are among the highest protein/lowest fat foods. Soy and other fish are also excellent choices) eat little and often(every 2-3 hrs) as this will keep your metabolism ramped up so your burning more calories also try to avoid simple sugars and carbs as they take little energy for the body to break them down and store as fat where as complex carbs and protein take quite alot of effort.I have been doing this and have lost 4lbs in a 1-1 1/2 weeks just through relatively simple changes sorry for the wall of text btw and good luck
First of all, stay away for ALL fitness products such as videos, gizmos, gadgets and fad diets. You don’t need to spend any extra money on fitness junk.
A proper balanced diet is all about eating what your body was designed to eat. AKA. FRESH fruits and vegetables. Add some healthy proteins like fish, lean beef, chicken, etc. in moderation and you’re good to go.
A typical day should start with a large glass of water to make up for the water you used up overnight.
Then have a bowl of fresh fruit such as strawberries, blueberries, kiwi, banana, and topped with low-fat yogurt. This will ensure that your body has all the vitamins and nutrients it needs. It will suppress your snack cravings and give you lots of fiber which will help rid your body of toxins.
For lunch you can have your choice of protein and a nice raw salad made with your own home-made dressing.
Same goes for supper…
If you need a snack, reach for an apple or orange or something like that..
Drink lots of water all day long to keep from getting dehydrated…
Main things to remember are:
– Avoid ALL processed, packaged foods
– Avoid White bread and white rice
– Avoid snack foods
Bottom line? Think organic and fresh food and the pounds will fade away.
A great book to read is “Prescription for Dietary Wellness” by Phyllis A. Balch, CNC
Phyllis explains everything you need to know about the health benefits of individual foods. If you really want to understand about what makes up a balanced diet, this is one book that is a must read.
As far as exercise is concerned, invest in a good pair of runners and get outside and either walk or run. If you’re too heavy for those things get a bike to start of with and then move up to the other exercises. Main thing is to track your progress and continually push the envelope. Within a couple of weeks, you’ll see real improvements.
I’m in my late fifties and most people think I’m 40, so it must be working. Anyway, I feel great and I have a good weight for my height.
A person you might want to read about is Jack LaLane. He’s known for his juicers today but he is the best example of what being a healthy person is all about.
