Answer 1:

The MOST important thing is to eat naturally..without medicines, chemicals, “starving” your self etc.

first, it would be best for you to eat as healthy as possible..this will also help you considerably to lose weight gradually and naturally..

eat fresh fruits, vegetables, drink plenty of WATER..avoid all cokes, caffeines, smoking, alchohol etc. as these also add weight as well as they contain chemicals which disturb your natural bio rythmns as well as brain chemistry. try not to eat too much meat, and the meat you should eat should be “lean meat” such as steamed chicken and rice, or steamed fish with rice..and vegetables,, this should be your staple diet rice and vegetables with fruits..AVOID “JUNK FOOD” and “Fast Food” as this type of food is very unhealthy, lacking in vitamins really and has plenty of fattening molecules which make one gain weight and is very bad for overall health.

if you snack,, try fruits with yogurt or fruit yogurt and nuts.. nuts are very healthy for your body .and contain proteins.

go for walks every evening or morning or whenever you get time each day for 1 hour or 2 hours..make this somewhere you enjoy walking even if you have to drive a bit to there..and make this a daily routine..you will enjoy it once you get into it ..and it makes you feel great after..just walking for 1 hour or 2 hours.

if you do this..every day for one month ..you should lose around 10 pounds (.714 stone) per month until you get to your natural healthy weight.. look up on the internet for an idea of what your weight for your height should be ..and when you get to this weight,,your body will look very nice and you will feel very good.

10 pounds (.714 stone ) each month in 3 months you should lose 30 pounds (2 stones, 2 pounds)..for sure…but no junk food and dont drink alcohol or smoke, dont eat junk..just healthy food with vitamins and walking 1 hour or 2 hours every day..and drink plenty of water..this is guaranteed way to lose weight naturally and for good, if you stick to this, which you should,,as it makes you feel so much more positive due to the vitamins and lack of chemicals making you feel depressed…

btw, forgot to mention,,just in case you dont know how to really make healthy meals..buy a “food steamer” at your local deparment store..they are very cheap and work very well..as well as buy a “rice cooker” which is also very cheap..eating rice is a great way to get your necessary carbs “healthy carbs” to lose weight and has lots of natural energy inside. you can buy asian rice at most large supermarkets or if you have a local oriental market..they sale quality asian rice.. thai or indian rice is good “jasmine rice”.. buy corn or canola oil to sprinkle on vegetables or rice before steaming to add to taste as well as you can buy several nice spices like “cumin” or “Curry powders”, etc.just sprinkle on the vegetables before steaming to give nice taste.

drink “Green Tea” as this is very healthy and helps burn extra fat faster…you can buy quality green tea at most oriental shops or large supermarkets as well

Do something fun if he does not have motivation. When I was in Japan I enjoy going to swimming. Many older people were just walking on the side of pool. Also, they have sauna and it really helps u to lose weight.  Continue reading How do I get my dad to lose weight?

How can I change old habits about losing weight?

Ask:

I am 21, college student, 225lbs. I have always struggled with weight and self confidence issues. I am wanting to get down to around 180, mainly muscle. I am trying to figure out how to over come my laziness and lack of self motivation and self dedication to actually start losing weight. Just any insight of what may have helped you, or things you may know that would help would be much appreciated.

Answer:

First off, realize that I’m not a physician so the information is a personal opinion.

You will need to get to the root cause of your self-confidence issues, perhaps seeking therapy.

Why do you want to lose weight?
Mine was for health reasons, tumors/cysts. Doctors wanted to cut on me (surgery) and I did not want to go that route.
So, getting back to you..why do you want to lose the weight?
I’m sure you know what it will take to lose the weight, eating right, portion control, exercise.
But unless you get to the root cause, find the motivation, I’m wasting my and your time.

I could tell you that if you don’t lose the weight, that there is a chance you will be plagued with health problems, particularly as you get older, but I’m sure you already know that.
Image yourself at your ideal weight, find someone that has a similar body structure as you do but at the weight and physique that you want to be.
Ask yourself is it worth it to change your life to look that him?
I understand that being in college that the average student does tend to gain weight, I start my Fall Term in a few weeks, so I know.
But as a student you also know what it takes for you to get good grades, pass that exam.
Hitting the books, or what the Brits call mug (studying hard) and saying no to the partying.
The same with losing weight. Saying no to foods that got you were you are now, letting go of your current lifestyle for a new you. Continue reading How can I change old habits about losing weight?

Are you ready to lose weight starting from today?

Weight loss and diet programs come and go. Some are just the fad of today, and people chase after them without fully understanding if they would work for them. Of course, there are some long-standing ones which do work such as the Atkins and Cambridge Diets. However, over-relying on a special diet program is not for everyone due to our different genetic make-up. There could be adverse side-effects that could surface and result in long-term health problems.

Weight loss is a lifestyle than a physical act. Let’s take a closer look at why most people fail in their weight loss attempts. Survey results showed that the majority failed due to the lack of proper preparation. To be more specific, their will and motivation to lose weight are not strong enough and they give up easily each time a weight loss program does not work for them. Many others give in fast to temptations of personal indulgence like food, snacks and the like. Still there are some who simple find it too tough to work out physically. Unless you take your weight loss seriously, there is a high chance that you will throw in the towel after a while.

Assuming you are serious about losing weight, you then qualify as a good candidate to apply those quick weight loss tips shared here. Losing weight successfully requires your mindset to be fixated on your quick weight loss plan and goal, no matter which route you have chosen. Plans do work but only if we work on them. Ask yourself what are the reasons for you wanting to lose weight. Make sure they are motivating enough. Think of the worst case scenario should you fail; the ugly stares at your fat tummy, not feeling confident when approaching the girl/guy you wish to date? The purpose of this whole exercise is to condition your thinking. Ok, once you have found the strong reasons to lose weight, you are one step ahead of many others. Top Ten Ways to Take Care of Your Mental Health

  1. Be realistic. If you are taking on more responsibility than you can handle, rank the activities you are involved with and drop the ones that aren’t absolutely necessary.
  2. Drop the “superman/superwoman” mentality. Nobody is perfect, so don’t expect perfection from yourself or others. Don’t be afraid to ask for help if you need it.
  3. Reflect. Take time out to collect your thoughts. Personal reflection in the form of meditation, prayer or other ways can reduce stress.
  4. Plan ahead. Feeling unprepared or scrambling to do something at the last minute can be really stressful.
  5. Healthy lifestyle. Eat a well-balanced diet and limit your use of caffeine and alcohol. Exercise regularly as a way to reduce stress and increase self-esteem. Make sure you are getting enough sleep to feel refreshed and energized.
  6. Share your feelings. Talking to a friend or family member about problems in your life can help you organize your thoughts and get support for your feelings.
  7. Hobbies. Take a break from stressful situations by doing something you enjoy. Whether it’s reading, gardening or cooking, make time to relax.
  8. Be flexible. Respect other people’s opinions and be prepared to compromise. If you are willing to give a little, others may meet you halfway. Not only will you reduce your stress, you may find better solutions to your problems.
  9. Take one thing at a time. When people are under stress, an average workload can seem overwhelming. The best way to handle this feeling is to do one task at a time. Pick one project and work on it. Once you finish, choose the next one. The feeling of accomplishment will encourage you to keep going.
  10. Get help when you need it. It’s never a weakness to ask for help. Contact your university’s counseling center or local mental health association to talk with someone about how you are coping.

How does the current health care system in America work?

Ask:

I know there is a huge debate about universal health care and such on health care reform in America. But what is it that makes sparked this reform? How does the current system work and what it wrong with it? I’m trying to find the answers online, but I can’t find anything that can answer my question. Thank you for all responses!

Answer:

The real answer will be too long to post here, but a few highlights. Health care used to be under the control of doctors. In WWII the US government unconstitutionally froze wages and prices so in order to obtain and retain the best employees, employers had to add benefits as they couldn’t adjust wages. One of the benes added was health insurance which was not really needed (not anywhere as important as it is today). After WWII the link remained–in peoples’ minds and in fact.Come 1966 and the feds decided to take their unconstitutional Social Security program a step farther and create Medicare–now the feds were in health care big time. Medicare has grown over time and was always supposed to ensure that no doc or hospital ever got a profit from treating Medicare patients–unfortunately docs have been taken to the cleaners on the deal which is why it’s getting harder and harder to find one who takes Medicare. Also premiums are on the rise, particularly in the last decade:

In the US, Medicare is going bankrupt. In 1998, Medicare premiums were $43.80 and in 2008 will be $96.40–up 120%. “Medigap” insurance is common because of the 20% co-pay required for service. Medicare HMOs are common because they reduce that burden without an extra charge in many cases. HOWEVER, many procedures which used to have no or a low co-pay NOW cost the full 20% for the HMO Medicare patient. ALSO the prescription coverage they tended to offer has been REDUCED in many cases to conform to the insane “donut hole” coverage of the feds. Doctors are leaving Medicare because of the low and slow pay AND because the crazy government wants to “balance” their Ponzi scheme on the backs of doctors.
“That dark cloud lurking over the shoulder of every Massachusetts physician is Medicare. If Congress does not act, doctors’ payments from Medicare will be cut by about 5 percent annually, beginning next year through 2012, creating a financial hailstorm that would wreak havoc with already strained practices.

Cumulatively, the proposed cuts represent a 31 percent reduction in Medicare reimbursement. If the cuts are adjusted for practice-cost inflation, the American Medical Association says Medicare payment rates to physicians in 2013 would be less than half of what

In the very early 1970s, others looked at the growth of health care as we made more scientific advances (DNA was only discovered in 1953, for example) and decided that being able to have control over life and death should be pretty profitable, so the concept of “managed care” based on the LIE that doctors were making “too much money” was born and embraced by those who couldn’t get into or through medical school. The door was open for the hijacking of medical care and the skyrocketing of prices. As you see with Medicare payments, doctors would NOT be the beneficiaries.
Since that time the boldness of insurance companies to ignore their contracts as well as antitrust laws has grown wildly and the government sits and twiddles its thumbs wasting time and tax dollars on “investigating” Microsoft and baseball instead of enforcing laws. Hospitals have decided that they’ll charge the uninsured about 3 times what they charge the insured and have become aggressive in going after CITIZENS who don’t pay their bills in full.
As always, the government has ensured problems will exist with their mandates that everyone be treated at an ER if he has a life-threatening condition, regardless of ability to pay. Sounds good on paper. Hospitals deliberately misinterpret the mandate to mean “treat all illegals no matter how little they need medical care and bill the heck out of the taxpayer.” Combine this with the stupid governmental mandate of “compassionate entry” (the Border Patrol is instructed to let in everyone who is ill so they can be treated here, knowing full well in many cases the taxpayer is going to eat the bill), and you have hard-working Americans paying more and seeing portions of their hospitals shut down because of governmental meddling and their inability to do their job: secure the borders.
A few things that should be of interest to any thinking man on the subject of health care in the US–in other words, the pols won’t discuss this and the media give it short shrift:
When 75% of the people who declare bankruptcy over medical bills ARE INSURED, then insurance is CLEARLY not the answer.
“Aldrich’s situation is “asinine” but increasingly common, said Dr. Deborah Thorne of Ohio University. Thorne, co-author of a widely quoted 2005 study that found medical bills contributed to nearly half of the 1.5 million personal bankruptcies filed in the U.S. each year, said that ratio has likely worsened since the data was gathered.

Like Aldrich, Thorne said, three-quarters of the individuals in the study who declared bankruptcy because of health problems were insured. ”

Linda Peeno, MD testified that SHE had often denied treatment JUST to save the insurance company money

Furthermore:
“the vast majority of health insurance policies are through for-profit stock companies. They are in the process of “shedding lives” as some term it when “undesirable” customers are lost through various means, including raising premiums and co-pays and decreasing benefits (Britt, “Health insurers getting bigger cut of medical dollars,” 15 October 2004, investors.com). That same Investors Business Daily article from 2004 noted the example of Anthem, another insurance company. They said the top five executives (not just the CEO) received an average of an 817 percent increase in compensation between 2000 and 2003. The CEO, for example, had his compensation go from $2.5 million to $25 million during that time period. About $21 million of that was in stock payouts, the article noted.

A 2006 article, “U.S. Health Insurance: More Market Domination, More CEO Compensation”
(hcrenewal.blogspot.com) notes that in 56 percent of 294 metropolitan areas one insurer “controls more than half the business in health maintenance organization and preferred provider networks underwriting.” In addition to having the most enrollees, they also are the biggest purchasers of health care and set the price and coverage terms. “’The results is double-digit premium increases from 2001 and 2004—peaking with a 13.9 percent jump in 2003—soaring well above inflation and wages increases.’” Where is all that money going? The article quotes a Wall Street Journal article looking at the compensation of the CEO of UnitedHealth Group. His salary and bonus is $8 million annually. He has benefits such as the use of a private jet. He has stock-option fortunes worth $1.6 billion.”

WORK/LIFE BALANCE FOR PEOPLE WITH BIG DREAMS

“Happiness is not a matter of intensity but of balance, order, rhythm and harmony.” ~Thomas Merton

The vast majority of people I know have two different types of work: the kind that pays the bills, and the kind they wrap their heart around.

For some people, those are one and the same, but often that takes time, dedication, and a willingness to blur the traditional boundaries that separate work and social life.

Because let’s face it: It’s not always easy to make a living doing something you love.

The first challenge is to figure out what that is; and it’s often complicated by what we think weshould do based on what other people think and what we’ve done up until now.

The next step is to figure out how to do it smart. It’s all good and well to decide to you want to run an online fitness, beauty, or personal development empire, but unless you have a unique value proposition and a solid idea of who needs your services and why, you could end up just spinning your wheels.

And then there’s the easiest part, which is simultaneously the hardest: the choice to work on your dream every day, knowing there are no guarantees, and that it may take a long time to make the kind of progress that allows you to devote your full-time energy to your passion.

This has been my experience with Tiny Buddha, and it’s the same with people who have contacted me for help with their blogs. Everyone wants the freedom to do more of what they enjoy and less of what they don’t.

What makes this kind of complicated is that turning a passion into work can sometimes strip the joy out of it, particularly when you give up freedom now in the pursuit of freedom tomorrow.

Really, that’s what we’re doing when cram our hours full of tasks that leave little time for play and decompression: We’re deciding tomorrow’s possibilities are more important than today’s. Continue reading WORK/LIFE BALANCE FOR PEOPLE WITH BIG DREAMS

How much do you think lack of exercise affects a dogs behavior?

Ask:

Do you think behavioral issues are due to an owner not properly exercising their dog? Do you think most dogs are given adequate exercise?

Answers:

Answer 1:

Behavioral issues stem from many things – genetics, temperament, level of socialization, level of exercise, mental stimulation, etc etc. Will lack of proper exercise contribute? Sure – the energy the dog is unable to drain through exercise has to go somewhere!

However lack of exercise is not the sole reason for most behavior problems (especially the more serious ones). Temperament, which is genetic, is usually what drives behavior (along with instinct). Ultimately if the dog has a poor temperament, behavior problems are bound to arise or be present. Socializing the dog, training the dog, and giving proper exercise/mental stimulation merely gives the human the opportunity to influence behavior at any given time. How often should a diabetic exercise? What kinds of exercise would be appropriate?

Ask:

I’m not sure how much exercise would also be considered too much. I’ve heard and read some recommend an exercise of 3 times a week. Would exercising daily be too much? I think other people leading active lifestyles have no problem with daily physical activity. Is it possible for a diabetic to still build up their muscles? Or would their condition make it a little more difficult for them?

Answers:

Answer 1:

If you’re out of shape or have recently been diagnosed as having diabetes, see your doctor before you begin an exercise program. Your doctor can tell you about the kinds of exercise that are good for you depending on how well your diabetes is controlled and any complications or other conditions you may have. Here are some tips for starting:

* If you’re planning to walk or jog, be sure your shoes fit well and are designed for the activity you have in mind. Be alert for blisters. Wear new shoes for a bit each day until they’re comfortable and not as likely to cause blisters. Remember, always wear socks.

* Start slowly with a low-impact exercise such as walking, swimming, or biking.

* Build up the time you spend exercising gradually. If you have to, start with five minutes and add a bit of time each day. Continue reading How often should a diabetic exercise? What kinds of exercise would be appropriate?
