Ask:
Overweight because of lack of exercise and an unhealthy diet. Why? Because you would feel like you lost control over your weight or because you feel like you are only attractive as a thinner person?
P.S. I am not saying that I would feel that way if I were to gain weight. I am not saying overweight people are failures either. But I know that someone people dread gaining weight above all else, and I want to delve deeper into the reasons for that. Is it a control issue, an issue of looking good or an issue of being healthy?

Answer 1:
I was once overweight and I WAS a failure back then. I was short, fat, and ugly, I look back and I see why I didn’t have any friends or why people didn’t want to be near me.
I need to lose a few pounds now, but I’m nowhere near like I used to be at least.
(Sorry to hate on overweight people, as I have dear friends and family who are and they are good people, but many overweight people are unsuccessful in life, its true!).
Edit: I know there are successful overweight people and I know many who are good people. But I’m saying as a whole, generally if I come across someone who’s thin and healthy they tend to do more with their lives and seem happier whereas someone who’s obese tends to be a bit more dour and angry with the world (and with him/herself). Not all but many.
Great and thorough answer. I agree with you. A lot of overweight people don’t believe in themselves = why they don’t succeed. But I know many successful overweight people too, so it depends on the individual.
Answer 2:
I have always had issues with my weight. During my cancer treatment I went from being slightly over weight (but happy with how I looked and felt) at 140 to being obese at 200. Contrary to popular belief, cancer is NOT a weight loss program. Most of the time today they mix steroids into the chemo and I have actually been on high dose steroids since my bone marrow transplant.
