How do you eat healthy and lose weight if you DON’T like vegetables?

Is there anything at all I can try that DOESN’T have any veggies?

Ask:

I am determined to lose some weight! I’ve been going to the gym but I hate vegetables. Actually, the only ones I like are corn and potatoes and those aren’t really that great. I have tried almost everything and it just doesn’t go through my system. I’ve searched for many healthy recipes but they all have vegetables. Is there anything at all I can try that DOESN’T have any veggies?

Not if you want to be healthy and stay healthy.

The bad news is the fruit and veggies should make up the major part of our diet – So if you care about your body and you want it too look good and feel good then – Take a fresh look at vegetables and learn to view them as your best friend – the stepping stones to achieving a healthier you.

The good news is – to begin with find a really nice flavour or sauce to have with them – a white sauce, cheese sauce, satay, a little Butter a bit of low fat sour cream – I know that sauces contain a fair few calories or kilojoules but at this stage I would be learning how to implement them into your diet and doing so as easily and tastily as possible.

Although I value the benefits of a good multi vitamin supplement – they should never be the basis of a healthy diet – Healthy food and a supplement – Never a supplement minus the healthy food!

Your attitude and how much you want to achieve your goal makes the difference to whether you get there or not. Good luck Julie Hodges

Answer 2:

Determine the vitamins that you are missing from not eating vegetable. Then using the internet look up other foods that are rich in that vitamin. Example: A good way to get the nutrients form tomatoes when you don’t like them fresh is to eat healthy whole-wheat pasta with a red sauce. Also try adding a can of tomato sauce to you next chili or mix with enchilada sauce for a nutrient rich enchilada topping. Tomatoes are rich in Vitamin A and C, so make sure you eat plenty of Vitamin C and A enriched foods like oranges, apricots and melons instead. Below is a website that lists vitamin enriched foods. The main thing is to control your portion size and saturated fat intake. Substitute apple sauce for oils in baking and use low-fat options when preparing dishes.

You need vegetables, but if you absolutely can’t eat any, just replace them with a lot of fruits. You’ll miss some of the nutrients (you can’t substitute dark greens), but generally they’re pretty similar. The cool thing is lots of fruits can be cooked like veggies too.

Although it’s more of a bean, you should try soybeans. They’re very healthy, and are nothing like lima beans and other veggies of the sort.

Another recipe you might like (I don’t like veggies but love this) is spinach souffle. It’s packed with spinach, but it tastes like cream sauce. Lemme know if you need a recipe; just a search online should come up with one.
